 For this challenge we had 33 professional designers that participated. Each of us received boxes of product from these wonderful companies and we were asked to come up with some great designs using the products found in our boxes. Now, let me start off by saying that I have worked with Westcott Brand® products for some time. I have the Westcott Brand® Titanium Bonded 12” Rotary Trimmer and their Titanium Bonded Non Stick Scissors, which I must say I think is the best paper cutter and scissors on the planet! Nothing sticks to those scissors!! So, I knew already that working with ANY Westcott Brand® product was going to be great, but my first thought with the other boxes was what the heck was I going to create with some duct tape and VELCRO fasteners. Well, was I super surprised when I opened the box and found all the great colors. I started to play with my new tools and my brain just exploded with all the things I can do with these products. Duct tape is not just for fixing up those leaky pipes anymore!

Instructions

Cover box with pink duct tape sheet. Cut out. Adhere dark blue card stock to inside of the box with Zip Dry Paper Glue. Score along dotted lines, fold and adhere box edges with glue.  Use paper clips to hold in place until dry. 

Cut Zebra print duct tape into strips and adhere to all sides of the box top.  Cut a 10” strip of the Zebra print duct tape. Fold in half. Cut two slits in the box top and slide the duct tape into the slits creating a handle. 

Layer the glitter paper to the box front. On white card stock, stamp large crown in black ink. Next, stamp small heart, small crown and squiggly line randomly around large crown with Bubblegum, Sky and Grape inkpads.  

Color images with color pencils, using Gamsol Mineral Spirits to blend colors. Edge sides of paper with Guava inkpad. Adhere white card stock to glitter papers on front of box. Glue pink fibers around the box front. Adhere gems. 

Stamp heart wands on white card stock with black inkpad. Color with pencils and cut out. Apply 3-D foam tape to the backs and adhere to box front. Adhere gems to heart wands. 

For the cards- Cut card stock as follows- Blue 4 ¾””W x 7”H. Fold in half. Green 4 ½”W x 3 ¼”H and White 4”W x 2 ¾”H. Ink edges of blue card stock with Sky and green card stock with Artichoke inkpads. 

Stamp and color the white card stock as you did with the front of the box, alternating the colors on the small heart, crown & squiggly lines.  Ink edges with Guava inkpad. Adhere layers to blue card and add gem to the crown center. NOTE- For the envelope, I made my own with an envelope template but you can buy small envelopes in any office supply store. 

For the pen- Cover pen with Terrifically Tacky Tape, excluding the pen cover. Place blue micro beads on a paper plate and roll the pen in the beads until it is fully covered with beads. Add another stripe of tape to the bottom of the pen and cover with pink micro beads. Wrap fibers around the top of the pen. Cut of strip of the VELCRO® Hook and Loop Fasteners  3 ½” long. Make a loop and staple to the side of the box. Slide pen into the VELCRO® loop.

Every Tuesday and Thursday between September 27-November 3, 2011 there will be a new Sizzix Fresh Vintage die featured on 6-10 of the 75 participating designers' blogs. The navigation buttons for "Hop Back" and "Hop Forward" are on the widget that you can find on the right side of my blog, will allow you to easily hop around and see projects featuring whatever the current die is, since those buttons are programmed to navigate only to the blogs that are participating for that die. On the next Tuesday/Thursday, the buttons will automatically reprogram themselves to navigate to the blogs that are signed up for the next featured die.

What if I start at a designer's blog that isn't one of the 6-10 signed up for that die?

New Designs on HSN!

I am so excited to announce that my very good friend, Brenda Pinnick, will be on the Home Shopping Network on Monday, September 26^th at 10:00am. She will be on the show to promote her new rubber stamp line and her Sizzix Textured Templates. Brenda contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to design some projects with her new rubber stamps. She told me that she was appearing on HSN and she wanted to include some designs from me, using her rubber stamps. After I picked my chin up off the floor, I said, “YES!” I am getting the opportunity to work for a fabulous designer, whom I greatly admire. On top of that, I get the chance to work with Brenda’s  great rubber stamps, and I’m  also going to have my designs shown on National Television!! Come on, how totally cool is that?! Blog Country Fair!

My fellow designer friends, Vicki O’Dell and Laura Bray got to talking and reminiscing one day about all the fun days they use to have at Country Fairs. So, they asked a few of their designer friends (me included!) if we wanted to participate in a Blog Country Fair!

We are supposed to submit a project that we might find at a Country Fair. I decided I wanted to submit a design that I created around my mom in her wedding dress. She looked so beautiful in her dress, and that’s why I titled it “Beautiful Bride”.

I decided that since summer is officially over and school has began once again, that I would share a very cute pocket card I made. Pocket cards are a fun way to add a little zip to your cards. They are super easy to create (just a little creative folding) and guaranteed to make not only the teacher that you create it for smile, but also your little one. INSTRUCTIONS

1.       Stamp all images twice on white card stock using black inkpad. Use tweezers and pom poms to apply chalks to stamped images. Seal images using Preserve It!Ô spray sealer.

2.      Cut out stamped images. Apply PeelnStickÔ foam squares to one set of the stamped images and adhere them to the other set of images, giving them a 3D effect.

3.      Fold red card stock in half. Using Xyron machine adhere School themed (blackboard) paper to the      top front of the card (¼” down from the fold), the striped pattern paper to inside of card (where you would write your message) and the School themed (pencils) paper to the upper inside flap of the card.

4.      Fold the lower left and right corners of the card front up until they meet, forming a triangle shaped pocket. Crease the edges down. Punch one hole on the corner of each triangle flap. Add ribbon and miniature apple.

5.      Apply glue to toothpicks and adhere to each of the stamped images. Add yellow raffia to inside of pocket. Glue stamped images inside pocket. Create saying with computer.

6.      Edge saying, red and yellow card stock with decorative scissors. Adhere the layers together with glue. Apply glue to red chenille stem. Adhere to sign and then to card front.

Pirate Princess Baby Outfit

It’s that time again! It’s time for another round of blog hopping with the wonderful designers of Designer Craft Connection. For this month’s hop our theme was babies/showers and parties, where we can share our design ideas about any of those topics. I chose to share a project design that I created for a friend that had just had a baby girl. I just love this outfit! It’s so girlie, but with a modern day twist. If you decide to create this project for yourself or a family or friend the best news is it won’t take you long at all. I think the whole outfit took me about one and a half hours! And if you’re a busy designer like me, or a very busy mom, that is great news for my ears and yours too!

Pirate Princess Baby Outfit

Designer Note for all Fabric Stamped Projects: Before stamping this outfit, be sure to wash the outfit first, without fabric softener. After stamping, heat set outfit with an iron or the dryer. Wash outfit by turning it inside-out on a gentle cycle.

Instructions

Step 1. Insert cardboard under dress. Stamp pirate princess, mini stars, and heart wand randomly on dress front using Claret inkpad. Remove cardboard.

Step 2. Heat set stamped images with iron. Adhere lace and bows to dress with Fabri-Tac glue. Set aside to dry.

Step 3. Insert cardboard into pockets and another piece inside jacket. Stamp princess and heart wands to jacket front with Claret inkpad. Remove cardboard.

Step 4. Heat set images with iron. Adhere trim around pockets and sleeves using Fabri-Tac glue. Let dry.

Step 5. Stamp mini star on front of baby shoes with Claret inkpad. Heat set images with heat tool. Adhere trim around shoes with Fabri-Tac glue. Add princess ribbon as shoe laces.
