A Beautiful Bride

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since my last post.  I have been crazy busy with my online magazine, Bella Crafts Quarterly bellacraftsquarterly.com getting the Summer issue out which is now available on our website as a FREE download.

I am now down at my beach house enjoying the beautiful weather and being a beach bum, which explains why I haven't posted for a while.  As I posted on Monday, the beach always lets me decompress so that I can get back to work doing what I love so much. Crafting!

For today's post I wanted to share a project that I created from my mom's beautiful wedding pictures.  I love working on projects that have that vintage feel and that's exactly what I created with this project.

Thank you for joining me.  Until next time...

How Do You Decompress?

Hi Everyone,

As a person living with chronic illness, I get asked this question a lot. Living with a chronic illness is a full-time job. On top of that, you have to include life and all that life brings to the table: a husband, kids, friends, family and also work. With all of those things going on in one's life, how do we decompress? What do we do in our lives that helps us from jumping off the edge of our house? Well, anyone who knows me well knows that my biggest stress reliever is the beach. I am lucky enough to have a husband who loves me and understands that after 55 hospitalizations and 20 surgeries over the last 25 years, I have to be able to decompress. If I didn’t, the result would be devastating for me and my family.

So, each year for the last twelve years, my husband has rented a beach house in June for me to stay. I have never quite been able to put into words what that beach house get-away means to me. The closest thing I can say about being there is that it rejuvenates my soul. Sitting on my beach chair, staring out at the water, enables me to put everything into perspective. I can take long looks at my life and be reminded of all the wonderful things that I have in my life. It reminds me that every day is a blessing. (And who doesn't need to be reminded of that from time to time?) I often say that I wish I could live there, to be able to have that feeling of contentment each day. What could be better? But, my husband reminds me that I would never get anything done. I would sit in my beach chair all day and ponder about having a great life instead of living one. I know he's right, but still…

What I wanted to accomplish by sharing this story with you is to remind you that no matter what is going on in your life, you have to learn to decompress. You can achieve that goal in many different ways. Each person needs to figure out what works best for them.  Although I look forward to my beach trip every year, and being there does alleviate a lot of problems, I still have to deal with those everyday stresses too. For those times in-between my beach days, I do a few different things to help with the stress. I have to say that aside from the beach, rubber stamping and scrapbooking are my favorite! When I start to feel a little overwhelmed, I go into my studio, pull out supplies, and I either work on a project or I play. And in no time at all, I'm feeling better and more relaxed. So, the next time life seems to be too much, pull out those craft supplies and play. You'll be smelling the salty beach air in no time. I know I do!

Thanks for joining me. Until next time…

Flowers & Swirls Tag with KellyCraft

Hi Everyone,

I created this tag with the Get-it-Straight Laser Square and the KellyCraft blog.  This really pretty tag measures 6" x 6" and for me, it just screams Spring!   I love the bright colors with the flowers and swirls.  This tag is something that won't end up in the trash can after your friend or family member sees it.  They are going to want to place it in a frame and hang it on their wall!   What better way can you say that "I'm thinking of you!"

For the complete instructions and supply list for this tag, please visit the KellyCraft blog at

Thank you for joining me. Until next time...

My Sweet Friend Card with KellyCraft!

Hi Everyone,

I created this card for the KellyCraft blog and I thought I would share it with you here.  I design different cards each month for the KellyCraft blog with their great tool, the Get-it-Straight Laser Square.  If you would like more ideas for using the Get-it-Straight Laser Square, stop by our blog at www.kellycraftblog.blogspot.com

These new stamps from JustRite Clear rubber stamps are fabulous! I really liked working with them on this card. If you join me at the KellyCraft blog every month, I will try to bring you cards that are anything but ordinary. I love putting time into my cards by layering, lots of embellishments, different shapes, cards that move, etc.

Every once in a while, I'll show you how to make a card fast and easy, but if you're looking for cards that are different and detailed, you've come to the right place. And of course to create these types of cards, your life will be some much easier if you add my favorite tool to YOUR toolbox...the Get-it-Straight Laser Square by KellyCraft.

Crystal Floral Necklace

Hi Everyone,

For my last two posts for Connie Crystal's blog, I used the beautiful white crystal sheets to design first a cuff bracelet and then I designed a set of earrings to match. I thought I would stop there, but I love these crystal sheets so much that I felt I needed to finished the jewelry set with a matching necklace.

I really hope that you head over to your local craft store and purchase some of these crystal sheets. There are so many fabulous things you could create with these sheets and you'll have so much fun working with it!

I just love this jewelry set so much that I plan on creating a few sets for some birthday gifts that I'll need in the very near future. Don't you have someone in your circle of friends and family that would love a gift like this? Boy, I know I do!!!

For a complete supply list and instructions for this project, please visit the Connie Crystal blog at www.sparklebycc.com. My post will be up tomorrow May 22nd.

Thank you for joining me. Until next time...

Crystal Floral Earrings for Connie Crystal

Hi Everyone,

Since I first received all of the product from Connie Crystal when I began working on their design team, I fell in love with the crystal sheets. My mind just exploded with all of the different ideas that I could do with these beautiful sheets. These earrings were just as easy to create as the bracelet. Since you can create them both in very little time, as I stated in my last post, think of all the color possibilities you'll have just by changing the color of the flowers!

For a full supply list and instructions for both of these projects, please visit the Connie Crystal blog at www.sparklebycc.com

Thank you for joining me. Until next time...

Love is the Master Key Card

Hi Everyone,

This is a card that I created for another design team that I'm on for KellyCraft Innovation's Get-it-Straight Laser Square. I have been talking and promoting this fabulous product since I first saw it at the CHA summer show in 2012.

I love creating cards that are somehow different from the normal. I love cards that fold different, are shaped different, or maybe a card that moves, or shakes...you get the idea.
Every month on the KellyCraft blog, I'll teach you how to create different types of cards, but always made with my favorite tool, the Get-it-Straight Laser Square!

If you would like to get the material list and full instructions for each card that I create every month using this great tool, please visit the KellyCraft blog at www.kellycraftblog.blogspot.com.

Thank you for joining me.  Until next time...

Magic of Oz- Part 4 in 4 Series

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to the last part on my series, "Magic of Oz" photo book.  As I have said in my earlier posts, this photo book was a lot of work but most definitely a labor of love.

I really hope that you will take the time to recreate this photo book for yourself.  Or to take the time to create something for yourself about a topic that you love.  I spend so much of my time designing for my clients or my family and friends that I rarely get the opportunity to create something just for me.

That is exactly what this photo book is all about.  I have a whole room in my house that my family calls the "Oz Room" and this entire room is dedicated to the Wizard of Oz movie.  I have memorabilia everywhere in this room and a beautiful curio cabinet with items that I have treasured for a very long time.  I thank my dad for this room because when I was in high school, he started my collection with a set of plates that hang over my fireplace mantle.

Even though my dad is no longer with me, I know that he sees each new item that I add to my collection and he continues to remind me everyday that "There's No Place Like Home".  My wish for the world is that everyone would have a safe place to go and the feeling in their hearts that there really is no place like home.

Thank you for joining me.  Until next time...

Looking Into The Past- Clown Birthday Set

Hi Everyone,

I decided that in celebration of my birthday that just recently passed, I would share with you a project that I did many years ago for a magazine called Craft Home & Style. I just love all of the colors in this project!!!

This project would be very fun to create for any child's birthday! Although the stamps are long gone I'm sure, you can always substitute any type of birthday stamp in their place.  The birthday set includes a plate, cup, napkin ring, pencil with a banner attached and a small notebook.

The plate is something that the kids can eat off of too.  I stamped it on sticker paper and then put a clear contact paper over the stamped image.  Very fun, colorful and easy to make for those little ones in your life!

Thank you for joining me.  Until next time...

Magic of Oz Photo Book- Part 3

Hi Everyone,

I am so glad that you stopped by for part 3 of my series on my "Magic of Oz" photo book.  This photo book was such a fun project for me to make since I could combine 2 of my favorite things- The Wizard of Oz movie and Graphic 45 papers!!!

As I have said in my previous posts, I don't have instructions for this book because I basically did my own thing. That's the great thing about mixed media. You take a bunch of products and create each page to you own liking. If I were to create this book again, it would be completely different from this one.

I can tell you some of the products I used- Graphic 45 papers & chipboard pieces, Clearsnap inkpads, Zip Dry Paper Glue, rubber stamps from Hampton Arts and different embellishments from a few different companies.

I hope you take the time to create a book like this. For me, it really was a labor of love!!!

Thank you for joining me. Until next time...

Crystals & Flowers Wall Hanging

Hi Everyone,

For today's Connie Crystal post I was definitely in a Spring mood! For me, nothing says Spring more than pretty flowers. But nothing says a beautiful wall hanging more than pretty flowers with lots of beads & bling!!!

And that is just exactly what I used for this floral wall hanging. This is one of your home decor items that looks nice in your house and is also very simple to create. You can put this project together in about an hour and a half.

So, the next time you have an hour and a half and you're looking for something to do, I hope you'll gather up all of your Connie Crystal beads and crystals and start crafting!

Magic of Oz Photo Book- Part 2

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to my blog for part 2 of my "Magic of Oz" photo book series.  For today's post I'm sharing pages 5 through 8.  As I said in my first post on this photo book, it was created with Graphic 45 pattern papers and I made it in honor of my all time favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz!

I don't have any directions for this photo book because it's basically a project that you create how you want it to look.  I did use Zip Dry Paper Glue for my adhesive, Clearsnap inkpads and the rubber stamps are from Hampton Arts.

There are no rules with this and for me the more bling that you put in it, the better. So, here are the next few pages. I hope you'll take the time to create one of these books for yourself. I had an absolute blast!!!

Thank you for joining me.  Until next time...
